What we build (custom, weather-ready, no decking)

Shade & Structures

  • Pergolas & awnings: open batten, insulated roof panels, polycarbonate or metal roofing; integrated gutters and downpipe hand-off
  • Batten roofs & trellises: sunlight control for western aspects; climbing frame options
  • Carports (carpentry components): timber/steel-clad posts and beams, lined ceilings, storage runs

Privacy, Screening & Boundaries

  • Privacy screens: horizontal/vertical battens, laser-cut infills, adjustable louvres
  • Courtyard dividers: semi-private screens that still pass breezes
  • Gates & fences (carpentry elements): slatted timber/aluminium cladding on appropriate frames; soft-close gate hardware

Access & Safety

  • External stairs: straight, L-turn or U-turn; closed or open risers, landing platforms
  • Handrails & balustrades: timber caps, stainless posts or glass infill as specified
  • Ramps & thresholds: slip-aware treads, compliant rises/runs, grip nosings

Façades & Cladding

  • Feature cladding: timber batten walls, composite cladding systems, screening to hide utilities
  • Soffit & eave linings: V-groove, shadow line or clean flat linings for a finished look
  • Entry feature walls: letterbox units, parcel boxes, house-number panels, lighting integration

Outdoor Storage & Utility

  • Bin enclosures: ventilated, easy-wash interiors, top-open or front-open designs
  • Garden/tool sheds (carpentry skins): lined interiors, shelving and lockable doors
  • Pool equipment screens: louvred doors/panels for airflow and easy service access

Answer-engine friendly line (AEO): We design, build and install outdoor carpentry in Sydney — pergolas, privacy screens, gates, fences, stairs, handrails, façades, cladding and storage — with no decking.

Our outdoor process (so it lasts — and looks built-in)

1) Measure & consult

We attend site to confirm spans, wind exposure, boundary clearances, drainage paths, fall directions and existing materials/finishes. We discuss sun angles, privacy requirements, council sensitivities and maintenance expectations. Outcome: a functional brief with real-world constraints and goals.

2) Design & materials

We prepare CAD drawings with elevations/sections, confirming post sizes, beam spans, fixing points, drainage, louvre directions, gate swings and handrail heights. We specify species and finishes suited to your exposure (full sun, coastal, shaded, high splash). Where metal framing or glass is involved, we coordinate interfaces. Outcome: approved drawings, material schedule and a realistic timeline.

3) Manufacture (in-house, Girraween)

We cut, pre-assemble and pre-finish where practical (primer/coats on all sides for timber components) and stage hardware (galvanised/stainless) to speed installation. Outcome: ready-to-install assemblies protected for transport.

4) Install & handover

We protect surfaces, set levels and falls, fix to appropriate structure, align reveals and tune gates/doors for smooth operation. We seal penetrations and edges, install caps and flashings, and finish with a care guide. Outcome: neat, solid carpentry that looks intentional and sheds water properly.

Weather-smart detailing (the difference between tidy and tired)

  • Species & substrates: exterior-rated timbers or composite/aluminium slats where appropriate
  • Edge & end-grain sealing: pre-coat edges for moisture control and lifespan
  • Galv/stainless fixings: hot-dip galv or 304/316 stainless in exposed or coastal zones
  • Drainage & fall: pergola roofs and claddings detailed to shed water cleanly
  • Thermal & movement gaps: expansion joints for composites/metal; battens gapped accurately
  • Ventilation: louvred doors/panels for pool gear, BBQs and bins to reduce odour/heat build-up
  • Service access: removable panels behind BBQs/equipment so maintenance isn’t a wall removal
  • Touch zones: splinter-free edges, sanded arrises, durable topcoats for handrails

Materials & finishes (chosen for the elements)

  • Timbers:
    • Hardwoods (e.g., Blackbutt, Spotted Gum): tough, beautiful grain; great for screens, pergola beams and handrail caps
    • Treated pine: value option for concealed frames and painted elements
    • Engineered/composite battens: low maintenance, uniform colour for screening
  • Metals & brackets:
    • Galvanised steel or aluminium posts/beams where spans or exposure demand
    • Powder-coated aluminium slats for low-maintenance screens and gates
  • Finishes:
    • Exterior oils for timber tone and easy re-coat
    • High-build exterior paints for crisp colour and UV resistance
    • Powder coat palettes matched to window/door systems
  • Hardware:
    • Soft-close gate hinges, marine-grade latches, concealed fasteners where possible
    • LED outdoor lighting integration (with your electrician) for entries and feature walls

Popular configurations (inspire your layout)

  • Batten pergola with adjustable louvre side screen for late-afternoon sun
  • Side-return privacy wall: vertical battens with alternating gaps for airflow
  • Front gate & fence: slatted street frontage with house-number panel and parcel box
  • External stair + handrail: slip-aware treads, robust posts and a warm timber cap
  • Bin + tool enclosure: ventilated doors, hose-down floor and top-lift convenience
  • Pool equipment screen: louvred double doors with service clearance
  • Entry façade cladding: timber batten feature with hidden lighting and intercom panel
We’ll sketch options and walk you through pros/cons for your site, exposure and maintenance preferences.

Timeline & scheduling (what to expect)

  1. Measure & consult: booked promptly after your call
  2. Design & selections: shortly after measure; timing scales with exposure/engineering needs
  3. Manufacture (in-house): scheduled after approvals (pre-finish where practical)
  4. Install: set, plumb, fix, seal; tune gates/doors; clean handover

Budget drivers (and where to invest)

  • Span & structure: larger pergolas, tall screens or long stairs need heavier sections and fixings
  • Material choice: hardwoods and powder-coated aluminium cost more but save maintenance
  • Moving parts: gates, louvres and soft-close hinges add hardware and tuning time
  • Exposure & detailing: coastal or full-sun sites need upgraded fixings/finishes
  • Integration: lighting, letterboxes, parcel boxes, intercoms and drainage interfaces
  • Site access: tight side paths, heights and scaffold needs affect install planning
Value tips:
  • Spend on hardware and finish — they determine day-to-day feel and longevity
  • Use feature species where seen; painted pine where hidden to balance budget
  • Plan lighting and power early so cabling is concealed and compliant

FAQs — Outdoor Carpentry (No Decking)

Do you design as well as manufacture and install?
Yes — measure, design/CAD, manufacture in Girraween and neat installation on site.

Do you build decks?
No — we don’t offer decking. We focus on pergolas, screens, gates, fences, stairs, handrails, façades, cladding and outdoor storage.

Which materials last best outside?
It depends on exposure. In full sun/coastal, aluminium slats or dense hardwood with UV-oil perform well; we always use galv/stainless fixings.

Can you add lighting to pergolas or façades?
Yes — we coordinate with your electrician to conceal cabling and drivers.

Do you build pool equipment screens and bin enclosures?
Yes — with louvred/vented panels for airflow and easy service access.

How long will it take?
After measure and selections, we confirm a realistic schedule for manufacture and installation.

Which areas do you service?
Sydney metro and suburbs within ~50 km of the CBD.

What warranty do you offer?
10-year workmanship warranty on fixed carpentry, plus manufacturer warranties on selected finishes/hardware. A 90-day check is available on request.
