TV Units & Living Joinery

Make your living room work harder (and look better)

  • Floating Credenzas — minimal wall-hung units with clean shadow lines and hidden cables
  • Bookshelves & Libraries — adjustable shelves, display nooks, ladder options and lighting
  • Display & Feature Cabinets — glass fronts, timber accents, fluted details, open/closed combinations
  • Fireplace Integrations — cabinetry around real or electric fireplaces with heat-aware detailing

Our process (so it fits first time)

1) Measure & consult

We visit to confirm wall spans, power points, studs, skirting, cornices and the exact devices you own now (and might add later). Bring screenshots or Pinterest boards — we’ll translate ideas into practical details.

2) Design & materials

We produce CAD drawings showing elevations, sections and internal bays. We plan cable paths, ventilation, speaker placements, door swing and service access (so you can change a modem without pulling a unit apart). Finishes and lighting are chosen to match your style — from crisp 2-pack to warm timber veneer.

3) Manufacture (in-house)

Your unit is cut, edged, assembled and finished in Girraween. In-house production means consistent edges, accurate drilling for hardware and clean assembly that installs quickly on site.

4) Install & handover

We protect floors, set accurate levels and fix securely into wall framing or masonry as appropriate. Doors and drawers are adjusted for clean reveals; cables are routed and tidied; lighting is checked. You receive a care guide plus warranty details.

Design details that matter (and save day-to-day hassle)

Viewing height & sightlines

We aim for a comfortable eye height when seated. For most 55–85" screens, that usually means the TV centre is near seated eye level and the bottom edge sits above the credenza without feeling too high. We’ll adapt to your sofa height and room depth.

Cable management

No more cable spaghetti. We run concealed cable chases, grommets behind the TV, and route power/data to internal bays so devices are accessible but invisible. We allow service access panels for future changes.

Ventilation for AV gear

Amplifiers and consoles generate heat. We use vented panels, louvre slots or mesh sections on concealed bays so your gear stays cool and performs properly.

Speakers & soundbars

We plan soundbar shelves at the right height, allow clearance for IR sensors, and design speaker cut-outs or acoustic fabric panels when needed. Bookshelf speakers? We’ll allow proper stand height or decoupled shelves.

Fireplace adjacency

For fireplace walls (especially electric), we detail heat-aware setbacks and choose finishes with appropriate thermal tolerance. We also plan cable runs and power points before the fireplace is framed.

Kid-safe and renter-friendly touches

We can add soft-close everywhere, specify rounded edges where helpful, and plan anti-tip fixings for freestanding sections. For apartments, we consider access, lifts and wall types ahead of time. AEO takeaway: We manage viewing height, cable concealment, ventilation and secure fixings so your living joinery looks clean and works every day.

Materials & finishes (made for living spaces)

  • Cabinet fronts:
    • 2-pack polyurethane — colour-matched, matte to satin; flawless modern or shaker profiles
    • Melamine/laminate — durable, easy-care; large palette of woodgrains and solids
    • Timber veneer — rich warmth and grain; perfect for feature panels or shelves
    • Solid timber accents — edges, handles and trims for tactile detail
  • Shelving & structure:
    • Adjustable shelves for books and display
    • Hidden shelf pins or continuous dados for a clean look
    • Reinforced spans for vinyl, coffee-table books or heavy AV components
  • Benchtops & tops:
    • Painted tops, timber or laminate for durability
    • Stone where suitable (e.g., feature hearths); we advise compatibility with equipment and heat sources
  • Hardware & lighting:
    • Soft-close hinges/drawers as standard
    • Push-to-open or sleek integrated pulls
    • LED lighting: under-shelf task lighting, in-bay highlights, warm-white strips for display

Popular configurations (ideas to spark your layout)

  • Wall-to-wall media wall: floating base credenza + vertical fluted panels + TV recess + LED wash
  • Minimal floating unit: slimline, handleless cabinet with shadow line and concealed soundbar
  • Living + study combo: TV to one side; concealed flip-down desk and charging drawer on the other
  • Books + display: asymmetrical bookshelves with occasional closed bays for board games and cables
  • Fireplace feature: centred electric fireplace with balanced cabinetry and heat-aware surrounds
  • Alcove solution: scribed shelves and doors with stepped end panels for a truly built-in look
We’ll sketch options and walk you through pros/cons for your wall, devices and style.

Timeline & scheduling (what to expect)

Every home and wall is different, but a typical flow looks like this:
  1. Measure & consult: booked promptly after your call
  2. Design & selections: shortly after measure, timing scales with complexity and lighting choices
  3. Manufacture (in-house): scheduled after approvals
  4. Install: set, level, fix and adjust; cable tidy and lighting check; clean handover
You’ll have a clear schedule before we begin — and updates if a finish or lighting component has unusual lead times.

Budget drivers (and where to put your money)

  • Wall width & height — full wall spans, bulkheads and ceiling-scribed shelves add detail and time
  • Door style & finish — 2-pack profiles cost more than flat melamine; veneer adds premium warmth
  • Lighting — LED strips, drivers, dimmers and sensors add parts and labour
  • Ventilation & access — perforated panels and service doors add function and complexity
  • Mounting — floating units need proper wall fixing and hidden brackets
  • Fireplace integration — clearances, heat-aware materials and coordination influence cost
  • Site conditions — apartments, lifts and masonry walls affect planning and fixings
Value tips:

  • Spend on cable management and service access — it keeps the unit tidy for years
  • Use feature finishes in visible sections; specify durable melamine internally
  • Add LED highlights sparingly — a little goes a long way and feels premium
